Traffic Stop on Route 219 Leads to Arrest for DUI, Marijuana Possession

GREENWOOD TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A traffic stop on State Route 219 led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man for suspected DUI and the possession of marijuana.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 9:26 p.m. on Friday, May 17, troopers initiated a traffic stop on a 2001 red Dodge Neon on Route 219, on the 3100 Block of Mahaffey Grampian Highway, in Greenwood Township, Clearfield County, after observing the vehicle to have an inoperable headlight.

During the stop, troopers detected the odor of raw marijuana and observed a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana on the passenger’s side seat.

A probably cause search of the vehicle yielded suspected marijuana along with related drug paraphernalia.

A battery of field sobriety tests were conducted, and the driver – a 20-year-old DuBois man – was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and drug possession.
