Traffic Stop on Route 322 Results in DUI Arrest, Drug Possession Charges

crime-newsWINSLOW TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to DuBois-based State Police, a traffic stop on State Route 322 resulted in DUI and drug possession charges in Winslow Township, Jefferson County.

On April 19, around 8:54 p.m., Sinjin Elliot Shaffer, 19, of DuBois, was travelling on SR 322 in a 2007 Subaru Legacy and was stopped for speeding, according to police.

Police say upon approached the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana was allegedly emanating from it.

Upon interviewing Shaffer, police determined that he was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance while in physical control of a motor vehicle, according to police.

Shaffer was arrested for DUI without incident and charges will be filed with District Court 54-3-02, police say.

Upon search of the vehicle, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was allegedly found and charges were filed against Shaffer and his passenger, 19-year-old Hannah Jayne Matthews, also of DuBois, according to police.
