Trooper Observes Vehicle Traveling At High Rate of Speed Before It Crashes on Snow Covered Roadway in Oliver Township

OLIVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police have released the details of a crash in which a driver was traveling too fast for snowy road conditions in Oliver Township.

According to a release issued by PSP Punxsutawney on December 3, this crash happened around 3:59 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, on State Route 36, in Oliver Township, Jefferson County.

Police say a 1998 Ford Econoline E150 was traveling north at a high rate of speed when the van began to lose control on the “heavily snow covered roadway,” causing it to spin and strike an embankment located off the southbound lane.

The vehicle sustained minor front end damage and was left at the scene due to a lack of tow services available at that time.

No injuries were reported.

The operator’s name was not released.

According to police, a trooper was tending to an abandoned vehicle on SR-36, when he observed the vehicle traveling north at a high rate of speed.

The operator was charged with two traffic citations.
