Truck Hydroplanes Off Roadway and Sinks into Flooded Field

BURNSIDE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police in Punxsutawney have released the details of a one-vehicle crash that left a pickup truck sunk in a flooded field in Burnside Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, around 10:06 a.m. on Monday, September 10, Rodney D. Ball, 41, of Mahaffey, was operating a 1999 Ford F-350, traveling south on State Route 219.

Police say Ball was on a straight stretch of Route 219 when his vehicle hit several inches of standing water on the roadway and veered off into the flooded field beside the road. The vehicle sunk into the flooded field leaving only a few inches of the roof sticking out of the water.

Ball escaped through the driver’s side window uninjured.

Ball towed the vehicle from the scene with a farm tractor.

Burnside Volunteer Fire Company assisted at the scene with traffic control.
