Tuesday’s Baseball Wrap: Serafini Helps Brockway Knock off Curwensville

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Tyler Serafini went six strong innings on the mound and Bryce Grecco drove in a pair of runs to lift Brockway to a 7-3 win over visiting Curwensville.

Serafini gave up three earned runs on eight hits, two walks and a hit batter while striking out three to get the win. Marcus Copelli pitched a scoreless seventh walking two while striking out the side.

Zane Puhala added a pair of hits and a run scored for the Rovers offense.

Josh Terry was 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for Curwensville with Christian Bakaysa and Bryce Timko both doubling. Timko also scored a run.

Noah VonGunden took the loss allowing four runs, two earned, on three hits and five walks while striking out two. Jake McCracken gave up three unearned runs without allowing a hit in one inning of relief. He did walk a batter.

BRADFORD 8, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 5

BRADFORD, Pa. – A five-run fifth inning helped Bradford break a three-all tie on its way to an 8-5 win over visiting DuBois Central Catholic.

Tyler Gigliotti had the big hit of the inning, a two-run double that broke the tie.

Gigliotti was 1-for-3 with two walks, a run scored and two RBIs. Danny Manion added a 2-for-2 day with two walks for the Owls, while Patrick Caskey was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored.

Thomas Grecco led DCC going 3-for-4 with two runs scored with Brandon Walker adding a pair of RBIs and a run scored.

Danny Manion got the win going 5 ⅓ innings allowing five runs, two earned, on four hits, a hit batter and three walks while striking out six. Peyton Manion finished up allowing two inherited runners to score on a hit while striking out one in 1 ⅔ innings.

Noah Bloom took the loss in relief of Garrett Prosper. Bloom went an inning allowing five runs, all earned, on five hits and three walks while striking out three. Prosper pitched 3 ⅓ innings allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits and six walks while striking out six. Peter Downer went 1 ⅔ innings allowing a hit and a walk and striking out three.

KARNS CITY 16, FOREST AREA 0, 4 INNINGS

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Tyler Yough homered and drove in three to help visiting Karns City to a 16-0, four-inning win over Forest Area at East Forest.

Yough was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Nolan Riley added a double while going 1-for-2 with two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Gremlins with Austin Rumbaugh going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Steve O’Donnell 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored, Dalton Fair 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored and Logan Pistorius walking and scoring twice.

Pistorius also got the win going 3 ⅔ innings allowing one hit and a walk while striking out seven. Brandon Hesidence got the final out.

Anthony Smith had the lone hit for the Fires with Noah Burke stealing a pair of bases.
