Tuesday’s HS Baseball Roundup: Park Leads Brookville Past Curwnesville

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Winning pitcher Aaron Park was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs to help Brookville to a 14-3, five-inning win over visiting Curwensville.

Park also went five innings allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three.

Seth Dunkle, Ben Reitz and Ben Caun each drove in two runs apiece for Brookville with Dunkle going 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored, Caun 1-for-2 with a triple and a run scored and Reitz 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Bryan Dworek also scored twice and drove one in while Adam Mackins, Brady Caylor and Trenton Gilhousen also scored twice. Gilhousen had a triple , while Caylor was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Bryce Timko was 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI for Curwensville.

Timko took the loss going one inning allowing three runs on four hits while striking out the side.


ALTOONA, Pa. – Casey Sheetz’s sacrifice fly to centerfield scored Matt Hartman with the game-winning run, as Altoona walked off Clearfield, 5-4.

The loss kept long-time Clearfield manager Sid Lansberry from his 600th career win and snapped a six-game win streak for the Bison, who are battling St. Marys for the top spot in the District 9 4A playoffs.

Clearfield led 4-3 going into the sixth before Altoona tied the game on a sac fly by TJ Becker. Then in the seventh, Hartman doubled and took third on the wild pitch before Sheetz was able to loft one deep enough to center to win the game.

Tommy Hazel had a pair of hits, including a double, and three RBIs for Clearfield, while Zane Morgan, Ty Bender, Seth Bumbarger and Allan Myers added two hits apiece as part of a 13-hit Bison attack. Reese Wilson also had an RBI single for Clearfield.

Four of Altoona’s five hits were doubles including a pair by Elliot Mast, who also added an RBI and scored twice.

Eli Glass took the loss going 6 ⅔ innings allowing five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three.

Hartman got the win in relief going three innings allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out one.

Lansberry will have a shot his 600th win Wednesday when the Bison travel to Bald Eagle Area.


WINGATE, Pa. – DuBois was held to three hits in a 4-1 loss at Bald Eagle Area.

Nick LaBrasca had a double for the Beavers while Matt Agosti had a single and an RBI and Jack Mohney scored the run.

Noah Schneider took the loss allowing four runs, three earned/ He walked three and struck out five.


TIONESTA, Pa. – A-C Valley pounded out 12 hits and used an 11-run third inning to pick up its second win of the year, 19-1 in three innings, over Forest Area at West Forest.

Austin Kriebel and Matt Thompson each had a pair of doubles for the Falcons, while Aaron Busch added a triple.

Kriebel was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs, Thompson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs and Busch was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs for A-C Valley.

Also for the Falcons, Lucas Larimore went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, Joe DeHart was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Trent Chalmers scored three times, Jeff Ginn went 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs and Tony Thompson crossed the plate twice.

Aiden Quinn had the lone hit and RBI for Forest Area.

Luke Whitcomb got the victory going three innings allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out four.
