Tuesday’s Softball Roundup: Brookville Sweeps Bradford


BRADFORD, Pa. (D9Sports) – Brookville swept a twin bill at Bradford winning by scores of 15-0 in four innings and 25-1 in three innings.

The Lady Raiders needed just 25 hits to secure their 40 runs, and Carlie McManigle got both wins in the circle.

In the opener, the 15-0 victory, McManigle allowed one hit and a walk while striking out six in four innings. She then came back in the 25-1 victory going all three innings allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out four.

In the first game, Brookville’s offense was paced by Lauren Hergert and Megrah Suhan, who both had three hits apiece, including a double. McManigle, Dani Maring and Emily Kramer each added a pair of hits, including a triple by Kramer.

The second game saw Brookville walk 15 times and Kramer pick up four hits, to give her six on the day. Alleah Ames chipped in a pair of hits and Suhan had another double.

CURWENSVILLE 14, BROCKWAY 4, 5 INNINGS

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Getting multiple-hit games from Abby Pentz and Bailey Bloom, Curwensville rolled past visiting Brockway, 14-4 in four innings.

Pentz was 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base with Bloom going 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.

Also for the Lady Tide, Ally Hess was 1-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored while stealing a pair of bases, and Sabrina Spencer went 1-for-5 with a run scored, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Emily Calliari and Leah Lindemuth both had a pair of hits for Brockway.

Calliari was 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI with Leah Lindemuth going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Rachel LeGars got the win going six innings allowing four runs, all earned, on six hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out four.

Morgan Lindemuth took the loss going 5 ⅔ innings allowing 14 runs, 11 earned, on six hits and 10 walks.

KARNS CITY 26, FOREST AREA 8, 4 INNINGS

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Emily Wolfe and Mackenzie Dunn both homered and Kate Allen had a double and a triple to lead visiting Karns City to a 26-8, four-inning win over Forest Area at East Forest.

Wolfe was 1-for-1 with two walks, three runs scored and three RBIs with Dunn going 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored and three RBIs. Allen was 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Alyssa Stitt also doubled for the Lady Gremlins while going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Additional multiple-RBI games for Karns City came from Allison McConnell, who was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and four RBIs, Brittney Friters, who was 2-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs, and Logan Byers, who was 1-for-1 with two RBIs,

Scoring multiple runs for the Lady Gremlins were Torri Roudebush (three), Maci Moore (two), Emma Clark (2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored), Sami Grazioli (three walks, two runs scored) and Willow Mortimer (two).

Jaycee Redick was 2-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and four RBIs for Forest Area.

Byers got the win in relief going two scoreless innings striking out four. Makenzie Shay went an innings allowing two runs on a hit and four walks while striking out one. Dunn also pitched an inning allowing six runs, one earned, on a hit and three walks while striking out three.
