Tuesday’s Softball Wrap: Brockway, Brookville Both Fall

BROCKWAY, Pa. (D9Sports) – Behind four Maria Jones RBIs, Johnsonburg picked up a 9-3 road win over Brockway.

Jones was 3-for-4 with a triple, a walk and two runs scored, while Alyssa Kasmierski went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI for the Ramettes.

Mackenzie Freeman added a double, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs for Johnsonburg with Jenna Pavlock going 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Leah Lindemuth was 2-for-4 with a double for Brockway with Mackenzie Overbeck going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Lindsey Kocjancic got the win allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits, four walks and a hit batter in 5 ⅓ innings. She struck out 10. Jones relieved and gave up two hits while striking out five in 1 ⅔ innings.

CLEARFIELD 4, BROOKVILLE 1

HYDE, Pa. – Makyla Ross and Kate Lansberry each had two hits, and Erica Hanes and Abby Fedder combined on a four-hitter to lift Clearfield to a 4-1 win over visiting Brookville.

Lansberry was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI with Ross going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Fedder pitched six innings allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out seven to get the win. Hanes picked up the save going an inning in relief walking one and striking out one.

Brooke Cline and Karly Rumsky each added triples and runs scored for the Lady Bison, while Lindsay Hand had an RBI.

Lauren Hergert was 2-for-4 with a double for Brookville with Aleah Ames picking up an RBI and Julia MacWilliams scoring the run.

Carlie McManigle took the loss allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits while striking out one.

CURWENSVILLE SWEEPS SHEFFIELD

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Curwensville swept a doubleheader at Sheffield winning Game One 25-5 in five innings and Game Two 16-1 in four innings.

In the first game, Abby Pentz was 5-for-6 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored, Lauren Tozer was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and four RBIs, Sabrina Spencer was 2-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored, Bailey Bloom was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, Logan Sheeder was 1-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs and Emma Caldwell was 1-for-1 with a triple, a run scored and three RBIs.

Mya Grubbs hit a home run over the centerfield fence for Sheffield while going 3-for-3 while adding a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Rachel LeGars got the win going five innings allowing five runs on eight hits and a hit batter while striking out four.

In the second game, Pentz was 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs for the Lady Tide with Bloom going 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs scored and an RBI and Sheeder going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Clerissa Cole got the win going four innings allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out two.
