Two Adults, One Child Rushed to Punxsutawney Area Hospital Following Crash in Gaskill Township


GASKILL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say two adults and one juvenile were injured in a crash that occurred in Gaskill Township just after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13.

According to police, around 5:15 p.m. 34-year-old Mary J. Fisher of Punxsutawney was operating a 2008 Nissan Maxima traveling south on State Route 36 near the intersection with Winslow Road/State Route 2001 in Gaskill Township.

Police say a 2004 Toyota Corolla operated by 42-year-old Michelle McDonald of Reynoldsville pulled out from the stop sign on State Route 2001 onto State Route 36, and Fisher’s vehicle struck McDonald’s vehicle in the southbound lane.

Fisher’s vehicle traveled approximately 144 feet sound and came to a final rest facing southeast.

McDonald’s vehicle traveled approximately 36 feet east, struck a road sign and a utility pole and came to a final rest against the utility pole facing southwest.

Fisher, who was not wearing a seatbelt, and a 10-year old male passenger in Fisher’s vehicle, who was wearing a seatbelt, as well as McDonald, who was wearing a seatbelt, all suffered suspected minor injuries. An 11-year old male in Fisher’s vehicle, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

Fisher and the 10-year-old were transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Sykesville Ambulance. McDonald was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS.

McDonald was cited for a stop sign violation.

Sykesville Fire Department and Big Run Area Volunteer Fire Company also assisted at the scene.
