REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Two individuals facing charges related to a theft that occurred at the Bi-Lo store in Reynoldsville last month are scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing tomorrow.
Court documents indicate 36-year-old Derek Bruce Kuntz and 32-year-old Brittany E. Gibson, both of DuBois, are scheduled to stand in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29.
The each face the following charges:
- Retail Theft-Take Mdse, Felony 3 (13 counts)
- Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 3 (13 counts)
Kuntz and Gibson both remain lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on $10,000.00 cash bail each.
According to a criminal complaint, on December 21, 2018, Sargeant Murray, of the Reynoldsville Borough Police Department, received a phone call from the owner of Bi-Lo in Reynoldsville saying he had two individuals who entered the store and removed several items without paying for them.
Video footage was previewed.
According to the complaint, at approximately 5:44 p.m. on December 21, Brittany Gibson was seen entering Bi-Lo wearing a white coat and gray tossle cap carrying a leopard print purse. Shortly after her, Derek Kuntz entered the store. Gibson and Kuntz were seen taking merchandise from the packages, putting it in the leopard purse, and returning the empty or partially empty packages to the shelves. Gibson then left the store carrying the leopard purse without paying, while Kuntz continued to return packages to the shelves. Kuntz then paid for the items in his cart, left the store, and got into the car with Gibson.
Gibson and Kuntz were later identified and allegedly admitted to the theft, according to the complaint.
Gibson and Kunz were arraigned on Wednesday, January 2, at 8:00 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana.
