Two Escape Injury in Car vs. Deer Crash on I-80 in Sandy Twp.

SANDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Dubois-based State Police say a deer was responsible for a one-vehicle crash that occurred May 31 on Interstate 80 in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, the crash occurred around 3:51 p.m. as 24-year-old Jacob E. Ohl, of Transfer, Pa., was traveling eastbound in the left lane of I-80 near mile marker 97.

A deer allegedly entered the roadway suddenly from the median and into the direct path of Ohl’s 2013 Hyundai Sonata, say police.

Ohl allegedly struck the deer with the left front-end of his vehicle before coming to a controlled stop along the right berm.

He and his passenger – 19-year-old Jacqueline R. Bauzon, of Transfer – were both uninjured in the crash.

Ohl’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Auto Undertaker.
