Two Escape Injury in Car vs. Tractor Trailer Crash in Washington Township

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a two-vehicle collision occurred around 1:50 p.m. January 29 on Interstate 80 West in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, the crash involved John Nanda, 26, of Parlin, NJ, and Gary H. Lang, 48, of Salisbury, NC.

The crash allegedly occurred as Nanda was traveling in the left lane, attempting to overtake a vehicle in the right lane.

Police say Nanda allegedly lost control of his 2000 Toyota Camry on the snow-covered roadway and traveled into the right lane in front of Lang’s 2002 Freightliner Classic XL tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer struck Nanda’s vehicle in the passenger side.

Nanda’s Camry then traveled into the guide rail off the right side of the roadway, according to police.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and the time of the crash and escaped injury.

Nanda was cited with a traffic violation.

PSP DuBois were assisted at the scene by Zimmerman Towing.
