Two Injured in Young Township Crash

YOUNG TWP., Pa. (EYT) – According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, a two-vehicle accident occurred Tuesday morning on Harmony Road, in Young Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 18-year-old Bailey M. Winkelman and 33-year-old Michael W. Latta, both of Punxsutawney, were involved in the collision.

According to police, this crash occurred around 8:03 a.m. on April 25 as a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu – driven by Winkelman – was stopped at a stop sign on Adrian Road, at its intersection with Route 310 (Harmony Road) and failed to yield the right of way to Latta’s 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The Chevrolet Malibu was struck by the Jeep Wrangler at the front driver’s side.

Jefferson County EMS transported Winkelman and his 17-year-old female passenger to Altoona Regional/UPMC Presbyterian for injuries of unknown severity. Neither occupant was using a seat belt.

Latta was using a seat belt and was not injured.

Winkelman was charged with a traffic violation.

The Chevrolet had disabling damage.

The Jeep sustained minor damage.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
