Two Jefferson County Women Injured After Car Slides Through Ice-Covered Intersection

OLIVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Authorities say speed and poor road conditions were factors in a traffic accident Thursday that left two Jefferson County women injured.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the accident happened around 7:23 a.m. when Lindsay N. Fisher, 26, of Punxsutawney, was traveling too fast on an ice-covered Spring Road and slid past a stop sign at the roadway’s intersection with State Route 36.

Fisher’s 2014 Buick Regal subsequently struck an oncoming 2012 Honda Civic driven by Marcie J. Wolfe, 40, of Punxsutawney.

Fisher and Wolfe both complained of minor injuries; however, they refused EMS treatment.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage.

Fisher will be cited for failing to drive at a safe speed, according to police.

Oliver Twp. VFC, Lindsey Fire Dept., and Jefferson County EMS assisted at the scene.
