Two Local Residents Face New Charges After Burglary at CUP Stadium

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Two local residents previously accused of breaking into a Wood Street church are now facing new charges after a burglary at Clarion University Memorial Stadium.

Court documents indicate the Clarion University Police Department filed criminal charges against 20-year-old Keagen Reed, of Strattanville, and 21-year-old Alexis Thompson, of Sigel.

According to a criminal complaint, on April 29, Corporal White, of the Clarion University Police Department, was informed that the Clarion Borough Police may have recovered items that had been stolen during a previous incident at Clarion University’s Memorial Stadium. The recovered items included a blue backpack with “Clarion University Softball” embroidered on it, as well as a first aid kit that had been reported stolen.

Officer Zerfoss informed Corporal White that the items were recovered from a known juvenile’s home.

The complaint notes that the juvenile’s mother gave her permission for the juvenile to be questioned.

The juvenile reported that he, a second juvenile, Alexis Thompson, and Keagan Reed were at Clarion University’s Memorial Stadium earlier in the month, and he, the second juvenile, and Reed kicked in the doors to the softball and baseball press boxes and stole items.

Corporal White then received permission from the second juvenile’s father to interview the juvenile.

According to the complaint, the second juvenile reported the same events, and also reported that they had also broken into the camper at the stadium and had stolen items from inside it, as well.

On April 30, Corporal White interviewed Reed at the Clarion County Jail. Reed allegedly stated that what the juveniles had reported was true. He said the first juvenile kicked in the doors to the press boxes and then stated that he “smashed” a window in the camper. He also said that he and Thompson watched as the first juvenile opened a window and with the help of the second juvenile climbed into the press box and unlocked the door to let them in.

According to the complaint, Reed stated that he and Thompson stole a laptop and all of the items in the laptop bag and said the computer was still at his old apartment on Liberty Street, which he had been evicted.

The complaint notes that when Reed was asked why he and Thompson participated in corrupting minors, Reed stated that he didn’t know and said the juveniles “started it.”

Corporal White and Officer Kemmer, of the Clarion Borough Police, went to Reed’s former apartment, where the apartment manager advised that Reed had been evicted, but the maintenance workers had not yet cleaned up the apartment. The officers found a black leather laptop case sitting on a chair, papers from Clarion University Athletics thrown around the living room, an ACER laptop sitting in the bathroom on the sink, as well as a blue box that went with the laptop, a pair of white Under Armour turf shoes that had been reported stolen, and an American flag that had been stolen.

On May 1, Corporal White interviewed Alexis Thompson at the Clarion County Jail.

According to the complaint, Thompson agreed that she had been with Reed and the juveniles at Memorial Stadium during the incidents. She allegedly said she was never inside the camper but was in the main press box; she noted that she and Reed stole the laptop computer and the black leather bag. Thompson also reported that she did not know what Reed and the juveniles were going to do when they got to the stadium. When asked if she attempted to stop anyone, she said she did not, and when asked why, she allegedly said that she “follows Keagan.”

The complaint notes that the restitution due for damages is estimated at $420.00 for damages to doors and windows that belong to Clarion University.

Based on the investigation, Thompson and Reed were both arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14.
