WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police report a one-vehicle crash occurred yesterday in Winslow Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, the crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. on August 9 along Bollinger Road west of Reynoldsville Road (State Route 310) when the 16-year-old male driver of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee was negotiating a downhill left curve on a gravel-covered roadway.

The teen dropped his cellular telephone and attempted to retrieve it from the floorboard vehicle, then made an evasive swerve to the left. The vehicles tires broke traction with the roadway and it began rotating counterclockwise, police say.

The teen attempted to counter-steer, causing the vehicle to leave its lane and travel into a ditch, overturning and coming to a final rest on its wheels in a field facing northwest, according to police.

Both the driver and his 16-year-old male passenger were wearing seatbelts and escaped injuries.

The driver was cited with a traffic law violation.
