Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 119, Bell Township

BELL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A two-vehicle accident occurred on Monday morning on State Route 119 in Bell Township, Jefferson County.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 42-year-old Keri Hales, of Punxsutawney, was driving a 2008 GMC Acadia north on Route 119, which was wet and slushy due to fallen snow.

A 2006 Saturn Vue, driven by 38-year-old Matthew A. Basinger, of DuBois, began to fishtail. He was able to get the car under control, but Hales’ car hit him from behind.

Both drivers were using seat belts, and no one was injured.

Hale was charged with traffic violations.

Basinger’s vehicle was disabled due to damage to the axle. It was removed from the scene by Brocious Towing.

Hales’ vehicle had minor damage.
