Undercover Internet Predator Sting Leads to Another Arrest in Brookville

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man is the latest to face felony charges after being busted by a local undercover internet predator sting.

According to court documents, the Brookville Borough Police filed the following criminal charges against 26-year-old Ronald J. Clark Jr., of Brookville, on Wednesday, January 23:

  • Unlawful Contact With Minor – Sexual Offenses, Felony 1
  • Criminal Solicitation – Statutory Sexual Assault: 11 Years Older, Felony 1
  • Criminal Attempt – Statutory Sexual Assault: 11 Years Older, Felony 1
  • Corruption Of Minors – Defendant Age 18 or Above, Felony 3
  • Criminal Use Of Communication Facility, Felony 3

The charges were filed following an undercover investigation conducted by the Brookville Borough Police Department.

According to a criminal complaint, on August 30, 2018, Officer Turnbull, of the Brookville Borough Police Department, posing as a false persona, received a friend request, on an open source social media site, from Ronald Clark. Officer Turnbull accepted the request and added Clark.

According to the complaint, Clark messaged the account and made small talk until 2:25 p.m.

Clark responded again on October 12, 2018, around 1:40 p.m. and made small talk before asking the age of the persona. Officer Turnbill replied claiming to be 15 years old, and Clark responded noting the persona as “jailbait.”

According to the complaint, Clark went on to call the persona “freaking cute,” and Officer Turnbull gave Clark an opportunity to stop contact by telling him “I understand.”

The complaint notes that Clark then offered to continue to help the persona get a phone for a “kiss on the cheek and a hug.”

According to the complaint, the conversation about the phone continued, and Clark told the persona he wanted to make her his wife. The persona again stated they “are young,” and Clark suggested two kisses on the cheek for the phone. Clark then followed up with two more messages about the phone and arrangements to get it.

Around 8:12 a.m. on October 13, the persona responded again and made small talk until Clark mentioned that he was “bad,” using emoji characters of a devil, an upside down face, and a smirk. The persona asked Clark to explain, and Clark said, in a few messages, he should say he is “naughty more than bad” and went on to explain he can “be a freak” in a “hot way,” according to the complaint.

The complaint states that Clark went on to ask sexual questions of the persona. He was initially cautious not to give details, but soon began to talk in a more sexual manner and told the persona he is a “10” (apparently in reference to the size of his genitals) and stated would “be scared I’d break you.” Clark also allegedly told the persona he did not know if she “could take it all.”

The complaint notes that when the persona asked Clark if he no longer cared about her being 15 years old. Clark replied: “Never did just has to be a secret you know?”

The conversation of a sexual nature then continued with the persona informing Clark that “secrets could be kept and saying that condoms had to be used.”

According to the complaint, Clark asked the persona about “butt stuff” and if it was “rough and wild”
.
The complaint indicates that contact was made with Clark to ensure he intended to meet with the persona on October 14, 2018, and Clark expressed great excitement and reported he wanted to “visit” that day while continuing to “talk dirty” and ask the persona to describe their sexual fantasies.

Contact was made with Clark again on October 14, and a time and meeting place in Brookville was selected and agreed upon.

According to the complaint, Clark came to the agreed meeting place and parked one street over, having noticed a police cruiser staged nearby. He then began to contact the persona, telling the persona to come to him or be outside where he could see.

Officer Turnbull then initiated a traffic stop on Clark’s vehicle, detaining Clark and taking him into custody.

The complaint states that after being read his rights, Clark agreed to speak to Officer Turnbull and admitted that he had condoms and “what he did was stupid.”

Clark’s phone and the condoms were seized as evidence.

Based on the investigation, Clark was arraigned at 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23 in Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak’s office.

Unable to post $50,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing for this case has not yet been scheduled
