Undercover Operation Leads to Felony Drug Charges for Punxsy Man

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Felony drug charges have been filed against a Punxsutawney man who was busted selling methamphetamine.

Court documents indicate the Jefferson County District Attorney filed criminal charges against 40-year-old Robert F. Runyon.

According to a criminal complaint, on October 29, 2020, agents of the Jefferson County Drug Task Force were in contact with a confidential informant (C.I.) who reported he/she could assist in the purchase of methamphetamine from Robert Runyon.

According to the complaint, the C.I. then arranged a purchase of a “ball” (3.5 grams) of methamphetamine from Runyon in exchange for $250.00, but later, after Runyon said he only had a little over two grams, the price changed to $180.00.

Task force agents then observed as the exchange took place at a location in Punxsutawney.

The complaint indicates the C.I. provided police with a cigarette pack that contained a ziplock baggie with a purple rubber band wrapped up inside of the green cigarette pack foil. The ziplock baggie weighed 2.55 grams, and the contents tested positive for methamphetamine.

According to a second complaint, police were in contact with another C.I. on November 13, 2020, who also stated he/she could assist in the purchase of methamphetamine from Runyon.

According to the complaint, the C.I. then arranged a purchase of two grams of methamphetamine for $200.00.

The complaint indicates task force agents observed as the exchange took place at a location in Punxsutawney where Runyon was given $200.00 in official funds in exchange for a candy bar wrapper that was later found to contain approximately 2.79 grams of methamphetamine.

The following charges were filed against Runyon through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on October 29:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony (two counts)
– Criminal Use Of Communication Facility, Felony 3 (two counts)
– Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor (two counts)

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, with Judge Mizerock presiding.
