Four Brockway players and one DuBois player were named all-state by the Pennsylvania Football News Friday.
Brockway offensive lineman Joey Varischetti and linebacker Mark Latuska were second-team Class A choices, while their Rover teammates, kicker Jarrett Esposito and Zach Tyler, were honorable mention selections in Class A.
For DuBois, wide receiver Dante Dawson was a Class AAAA second-team selection.
Varischetti was the anchor of an offensive line that ran for 230.8 yards per game while gaining 321.9 yards per contest. He was a key reason the Rovers were able to overcome the loss of starting running back Anthony Isabella in midseason to get to the D9 Class A title game.
Latuska made 86 tackles for the Rovers with one fumble recovery.
Dawson was the top receiver in District 9 this year with 80 catches for 1,326 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 120.5 yards per game receiving.
In all, 24 District 9 players were named All-State by the Pennsylvania Football News (see story on D9Sports.com).
