MARIENVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Last night firefighters from several local companies responded to the scene of a structure fire on Cherry Street in Jenks Township, Forest County.
A spokesperson from Clarion County Office of Emergency Services said the call came in at 10:24 p.m., and emergency responders were dispatched to Baughman’s Meat Market located at 119 Cherry Street in Marienville.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing heavy clouds of smoke billowing from the structure around 10:30 p.m.
At 11:15 p.m. the structure was completely engulfed in flames, according to sources.
The fire appeared to be under control around midnight.
The scene was cleared by emergency personnel at 3:40 a.m. on Saturday, according to Clarion County OES.
Crews from Marienville, Farmington Township, Washington Township, Sigel, Sheffield, Clarion, and Shippenville responded to the scene.
Marienville-based State Police and Clarion Hospital Ambulance Station No. 3 were also at the scene.
Marienville Fire Chief Greg Geyer requested an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire. The exact cause is still under investigation, according to Marienville-based State Police.
The fire originated on the second floor, according to police.
The amount of damage is yet to be estimated, police say.
No injuries have been reported.
