YOUNG TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Two people were injured after two Mack trucks collided on State Route 119 this afternoon.
Punxsutawney-based State Police say the crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. when a 2007 Mack truck operated by John M. Bracken, 61, of Mahaffey, entered SR-119 from a private drive and pulled into the path of a 2000 Mack truck operated by Thomas M. Morris, 71, of Mahaffey.
Police say the front of Morris’ truck subsequently struck the right front of Bracken’s truck.
Bracken’s truck continued across SR-119 and struck a guide rail along the west edge of the roadway.
Morris’ truck rolled onto its right side, coming to a rest across the roadway.
Bracken suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS.
Morris was treated at the scene by EMS then flown to UPMC Altoona by Stat MedEvac. Police list his injuries as moderate.
State Route 119 was closed for several hours as crews removed coal debris and diesel fuel from the roadway.
Central VFD, Lindsay VFD, Elk Run VFD, Big Run VFD, Jefferson County EMS, PennDOT, and Sooth Side Service assisted at the scene.
