Update on Court Cases Against Sixteen Charged in Clarion County Drug Bust

CLARION CO., Pa. (EYT) – Four defendants who were part of a countywide drug trafficking investigation have recently been arrested, and one is still lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

According to court documents, the following individuals have been taken into custody since Thursday, November 9, and arraigned in district court:

Braden Ferringer, 23, of Sligo;
Shane Whitehouse, 23, of Stoneboro;
Melissa Townsend, 23, of Rimersburg; and
Cody Anthony, 28, of Emlenton.

“We’re happy to see them behind bars and are hopeful the last two will be in custody soon,” Clarion Police Chief William Peck IV said. “We will continue to aggressively battle the drug problem that is so damaging to our area.”

The four people recently arrested were among 16 who were charged on Wednesday, November 8, following a joint investigation into street-level drug trafficking in Clarion County.

“This was a joint effort and a several-month investigation by CNET and the Pennsylvania State Police Vice Unit,” District Attorney Mark Aaron said.

District Judge Timothy Schill arraigned 10 defendants last week. The four that were taken into custody since Thursday, November 9, were arraigned in the last few days.

Arrest warrants are still outstanding for the following individuals:

Dylan Becker, 25, of Clarion
29-year-old Samantha Vera, 29, of  West Melbourne, Florida

Three defendants have had their cases transferred to the Clarion County Court of Common Pleas.

Here is a look at the case status of each defendant:

Braden FerringerBraden Ferringer (pictured on left) is scheduled to appear at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, for a preliminary hearing. His charges include Delivery of Suboxone, Felony; Criminal Use of Communication, Felony 3; Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor. He remains in the Clarion County Jail on $25,000.00 cash bail.

Shane Whitehouse waived his preliminary hearing on Tuesday. The case has been transferred to the Clarion County Court of Common Pleas. His charges include Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Felony; Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor; and Criminal Use of Communication Facility, Felony 3. He is free on $25,000.00 unsecured bail. The case is working its way through the court system.

Melissa Townsend is scheduled to appear at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, for a preliminary hearing. Her charges include Criminal Conspiracy to Deliver, Felony; Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Delivery, Felony; and Criminal Use of Communication, Felony 3. She is free on $25,000 unsecured bail. (no photo available.)

Cody Anthony waived his preliminary hearing on Tuesday. The case has been transferred to the Clarion County Court of Common Pleas. His charges include Criminal Conspiracy to Deliver, Felony; Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Delivery, Felony; and Criminal Use of Communication, Felony 3.
