Punxsy Man Injured After Attempting to Pass Truck in No Passing Zone

MUDDY CREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Punxsutawney man was injured in a recent crash that occurred when he attempted to pass a truck in a no-passing zone.

According to police, around 2:03 p.m. on February 25, a two-vehicle crash occurred on State Route 422 just east of Perry Highway in Muddy Creek Township, Butler County.

Police say 76-year-old Larry J. Neal, of Punxsutawney, was operating a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling east on Route 422, and attempted to pass a 2005 Western Star truck, operated by 70-year-old Randy L Singo, of New Enterprise, Pa., in a no-passing zone. The rear passenger side of Neal’s vehicle then struck the front driver’s side of Singo’s vehicle, causing Singo’s vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a guide rail on the right side of the road.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Neal suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital by Porterville-Muddy Creek Emergency Medical Services.

Singo was not injured.

Neal’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front end, while Singo’s vehicle sustained only minor damage to the front driver’s side.
