Vehicle Hydroplanes, Slams into Guide Rail on I-80 During Heavy Rain Storm

SANDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to DuBois-based State Police, a one-vehicle crash occurred around 8:19 p.m. May 31 on Interstate 80 in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

Police say the crash occurred during a heavy rain storm as Prince Polley, 21, of Newark, NJ, was traveling eastbound in the left lane of I-80 near mile marker 99.

Polley allegedly lost control of his 2007 Toyota Camry on the wet roadway.

His vehicle allegedly slid counter-clockwise and struck a guide rail on the left side of the roadway.

Polley’s vehicle then allegedly continued sliding counter-clockwise a full 360 degrees and struck the guide rail a second time.

According to police, the vehicle allegedly spun counter-clockwise again before coming to a final rest in the left lane facing southwest.

Polley and his two passengers were all wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and all escaped injury.

PSP DuBois were assisted at the scene by Sandy Township Fire Department, Amserve DuSan Ambulance, and Zimmerman Towing.

Polley was cited with a traffic violation.
