Vehicle Slams into Tree in Huston Township, Driver Injured

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225HUSTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say around 7:03 p.m. on March 13, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Hickory Road, north of Thompkins Road, in Huston Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, 32-year-old Melissa Castro, of Falls Creek, was traveling northbound on Hickory Road, negotiating an uphill grade on intermittent ice patch conditions.

Police say Castro became distracted and her 2010 Suzuki Kizashi began to veer to the left. The vehicle then left its lane, traveling into a snow bank.

The vehicle then impacted a large tree with its right front, coming to a final rest facing a northwest direction.

Castro suffered minor injuries; she was using a seat belt.

She was charged with a traffic violation.
