Victoria Ann Snyder


Victoria Ann Snyder, 72, passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Christ the King Manor on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

She was born on September 7, 1948, in Punxsutawney, to the late Clayton C. Snyder, Sr. and Elizabeth (Pistorius) Snyder of Punxsutawney.

Vickie was a lifetime member of SS Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church.

Over the years, she was active in numerous church activities including teaching children’s religious education; singing in the church choir; working at the Saint Vincent DePaul food bank; knitting and crocheting prayer shawls; and sewing lap quilts as part of the Parish Health Ministry.

Vickie was a Secular Franciscan since her profession in 1986.

She served as Minister, and as Secretary of Saint Clare Fraternity.

Additionally, Vickie served two terms on the Lady Poverty Regional Executive Council for the 4-state Lady Poverty Region for the Secular Franciscans.

Vickie was one of the first residents of the Mahoning Towers in Punxsutawney where she enjoyed the company of tenants and staff.

She especially loved playing card games with friends and teaching those games to her nieces and nephews.

Vickie was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her three siblings: Clayton C Snyder, Jr and wife Elsie of Punxsutawney; Michael Snyder and wife Donna of Punxsutawney; and Mary Lou Brown and husband Tom of Punxsutawney.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Jodi Despoy and husband Joe of Chapin, South Carolina; John Snyder and wife Tawnya of Punxsutawney; Bryon Snyder and wife Carrie of Punxsutawney; Kirk Snyder and Coeli Liptok of Owings, Maryland; Trisha Skarbeck and husband Marc of Punxsutawney; Mary Anne Fedder and husband Mark of Punxsutawney; Dr. Dan Brown and wife Angela of Sharon; Beth Dereume and husband Ben of Pittsburgh; and Katie Irwin and husband Nick of Trade City, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, September 2, at SS. Cosmas and Damian Church, concelebrated with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo and Monsignor Charles Kaza officiating.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
