Violet L. “Nannie” Bowser

Violet BrowserViolet L. “Nannie” Bowser, 92, of New Bethlehem (Distant), died Wednesday evening, January 25, 2017, at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning.

Born on May 7, 1924 in Widnoon, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Nellie (McGinnis) Young.

She was married on December 24, 1946 to Marion “Dick” Bowser and he preceded her in death on August 16, 1988.

Nannie worked at Sylvania and Fairbrook Manufacturing in Brookville.

She attended the Oakland Church of God in Distant.

She loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. She also enjoyed long car rides with her best friend, caregiver, and sister, Betty.

She is survived by a son, Thomas C. “Buddy” Bowser and his wife, Cathy of New Bethlehem, two grandchildren, Chuck Bowser and his wife, Amy of New Bethlehem and Amanda Bowser of El Paso, Texas, two great grandchildren, Cyle and Alyssa Bowser, and a sister, Betty Hayes of New Bethlehem.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Goldie Young and a brother, Hilton Young.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 27, 2017, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Jimmy Swogger officiating.

Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.
