Violet Shaffer

e01175fd788ec382Violet Shaffer, 90 of Punxsutawney, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 1, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Shaffer was born October 2, 1924 in Greenwich, a daughter of the late Peter and Lettie (Patterson) Rummel.

In 1944, Violet married her loving husband Milton Shaffer who survives. They celebrated 70 years of marriage June 7, 2014.

She loved making beautiful quilts, gardening and making pies. She was a wonderful cook.

In addition to her husband Milton, she is survived by three daughters; Alice Lechner and husband Ellsworth, Judy McAdoo and husband Jerry, Janice Hartzell and friend Bill all of Punxsutawney.

She leaves behind five grandchildren; Dr. James McAdoo and Fiancee’ Lotsamy of Florida, Jackie Neufeld and husband Dr. Todd Neufeld of Punxsutawney, Joey McAdoo and wife Deshonna of Punxsutawney, Joyce Good and husband Mike of Dayton, John Hartzell of Mahaffey, great grandchildren; Christian, Eden, Jordan, Logan, Jeremiah, Katelyn, Jacob, Dawson, Keagan, Julia and Abby.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; James, twin brother of Alice, seven brothers and eight sisters.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Harold Haight officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
