Vowinckel Man Escapes Injury in Crash on Route 119 in Indiana County

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney State Police say around 12:05 a.m. on December 22, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Route 119, south of Engle Drive in North Mahoning Township, Indiana County.

According to police, 47-year-old Joanne V. Cross of Clune, Pa., was traveling north on Route 119 when she lost control of her 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee while negotiating a left curve in the highway.

Police say she hit a snow covered icy patch on the road which caused her vehicle to lose traction.

She drove off the west side of the highway and impacted a tree with the left front and then traveled another 18′ north and impacted another tree with the right side, according to police.

Cross was using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

Two passengers – 35-year-old Harry A. Culp of Vowinckel and a 5-year-old boy of Clune – were using seat belts and were not injured.

Jefferson County EMS assisted at the scene.

The Grand Cherokee was disabled from the crash.
