Waddell, Curve Quite Thunder

CURVE, Pa. – Making his second Double-A start, Brandon Waddell tossed seven strong innings and Anderson Feliz drove four hits as the Altoona Curve defeated the Trenton Thunder on Tuesday evening at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

In his second start in Double-A, Waddell was perfect over his first three innings and finished his night after seven innings with one run allowed on three this with five strikeouts and two walks.

Feliz became the first Curve player to record four hits in a game this season, finishing the night with two doubles and a triple.

Feliz knocked a one-out triple down the right field-line in the first inning and scored on an Austin Meadows sacrifice fly to give the Curve an early 1-0 lead.

Trenton’s Tyler Wade and Dustin Fowler reached on consecutive singles in the fourth. Wade came in for the only Thunder run on a RBI groundout by Tyler Austin to tie the game at 1-1

The Curve regained the lead on an RBI double by Feliz to center field to score Harold Ramirez. Two batters later Jose Osuna, drove in Feliz with a two-out double, giving Altoona a 3-1 advantage.

Trenton starter Dietrich Enns (Loss, 3-2) dropped his second straight decision, tying a season-worst in hits allowed with eight and surrendering three runs over six innings. The former Central Michigan product struck out five and walked two.

Altoona tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth on an infield single by Ramirez to plate Stetson Allie and Chris Diaz on a throwing error, making it a 5-1 game.

Edgar Santana (Save, 1) worked two innings in his Double-A debut, retiring five of the first six batters he faced and allowing one walk.

Jhang finished the game with three hits, all singles.

The Curve will play their first Education Day game of 2016 on Wednesday, with a 10:30 a.m. start time. Right-hander Clay Holmes (1-4, 5.72) gets the start for Altoona, and lefty Jordan Montgomery (4-0, 2.67) will pitch for Trenton.
