Warm Hearts, Warm Hands Marks 23 Years

mittens CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Community Action, Inc.’s Senior Corps-RSVP Volunteers have been making handmade mittens for the “Warm Hearts, Warm Hands” Project since 1990.

This year over 600 pairs of mittens were be distributed to each child participating in Head Start programs in Clarion, Jefferson, and Indiana Counties. Volunteers read the book “The Mitten” by Jan Brett to the children and gave each child the opportunity to select a pair of handmade mittens in their favorite color.

Community Action, Inc., is grateful to those who donated yarn and to the volunteers who made this year’s “Warm Hearts, Warm Hands” Project a success.

The Senior Corps-RSVP plans to continue this project during 2014; volunteers and yarn are needed.
