Wednesday’s Baseball Roundup: Park’s Gem, Dunkle’s Hit Lifts Brookville Past Punxsutawney

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (D9Sports) – Freshman Aaron Park threw a two-hit gem and Seth Dunkle’s two-out single to left in the top of the seventh made it stand up, as Brookville beat rival Punxsutawney, 2-1.

Park was outstanding needing just 87 pitches for his masterpiece in which he walked one and struck out five while giving up a second-inning run.

Brookville tied the game with a run in the fifth on an infield single by Dunkle before Dunkle won it in the seventh.

The seventh inning rally was started with one out when Bryan Dworek singled and went to second before scoring on the Dunkle single.

Dworek was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Dunkle was 2-for-4 with the two RBIs combining for all five of Brookville’s hits.

Brandon Matthews and Joey Dipietro had the hits for Punxsutawney with Tyler Richardson driving in a run.

Richardson took the loss in relief giving up the one run on two hits in one inning of work.

Isaac Stouffer started and went six innings allowing one run on three hits and four walks while striking out four but threw 94 pitches against the 100-pitch limit and had to be removed.

CRANBERRY 13, FOREST AREA 0, 5 INNINGS

SENECA, Pa. – Tommy Flinspach had a double and three RBIs and Jake Felmlee also doubled, scored a run and drove in two to lift Cranberry to a 13-0, five-inning victory over visiting Forest Area.

Also for the Berries, who scored eight times in the first, Andrew Gunn and Cameron Daugherty were both 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Noah Burke had Forest Area’s lone hit.

Trevor Gladdin ot the win going three hitless innings hitting a batter and striking out six. Flinspach pitched one innings allowing a hit while striking out two and Cameron Walney struck out the side on 11 pitches in his only inning of work.

Daniel Schwab took the loss going ⅓ of an inning allowing seven runs, six earned, on one hit and four walks. He also hit a batter.
