Wednesday’s Baseball Roundup: St. Marys Tops Punxsutawney


PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (D9Sports) – After a scoreless first four innings for both teams, visiting St. Marys used a four-run fifth and then a one-run sixth to build a five-run lead before holding off Punxsutawney, 5-3.

Brandon Sicheri led the Dutch going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs. Jared Groll added a 2-for-4 day with a run scored and an RBI.

Tyler Richardson was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Punxsutawney with Alec Greenblatt going 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

Groll picked up the complete-game win allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits and three walks while striking out four.

Greenblatt took the loss pitching 4 ? innings and giving up four runs, two earned, on three hits and seven walks while striking out three. Richardson pitched 2 ? innings allowing an earned run on three hits.

BALD EAGLE AREA 16, DUBOIS 5, 5 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Garrett Barnhart and Jaden Jones drove in four runs to help visiting Bald Eagle Area to a 16-5, five-inning win over DuBois at Showers Field.

Barnhart was 2-for-2 on the day with a double, a triple, a walk and three runs scored with Jaden Jones going 3-for-4.

Also for BEA, Trent Donley, Matt Reese and Grant King all doubled. King was 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs, Donley was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and Reese was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Jordan Jones added a pair of hits, a run scored and two RBIs.

Eric Schneider was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for DuBois with Peter Foradora going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Dylan McCluskey 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored and Gage Gulvas scoring twice.
