Wednesday’s Softball Roundup: Punxsy Rallies Past St. Marys

ST. MARYS, Pa. (D9Sports) – Scoring three in the fourth and three more in the sixth, Punxsutawney overcame a 4-0 deficit to get a 6-4 road win over St. Marys.

Winning pitcher Kylee Lingenfelter helped overcome a rare rough day – for her – in the circle by going 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and three RBIs.

Alli Ishman was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Lady Chucks, while Maddie Stonebraker also had an RBI and Toya Jones and Morgan VanLeer two hits and two runs scored each.

Morgan Krug led St. Marys going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Micayla Bothun added a double, a triple, an RBI and a run scored and Maddie Bowes had a double and two RBIs.

Lingenfelter, who gave up four runs in the first three innings, rebounded to shutout the Lady Dutch over the final four innings. Her final line was seven innings pitched, four runs, three earned, on seven hits. She struck out 16.

Maura Fledderman took the loss allowing six runs on 11 hits and five walks while striking out five.

FOREST AREA 13, ROCKY GROVE 7

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Trailing by one going to the seventh visiting Forest Area scored seven times to stun Rocky Grove, 13-7.

Allison Lencer was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Fires, while Cassie Cochran went 1-for-3 with a double and Jaycee Redick 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs.

Lindsey Pragle was 2-for-3 with a double to lead Rocky Grove.

Jasmine Ginnery got the win in relief of Jen Lander. She went five innings allowing three runs and striking out three. Lander gave up four runs in two innings.

Morgan Phillips took the loss for the Orioles.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 14, KEYSTONE 0, 5 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Macey Hanes, Jordy Frank and Riley Assalone each drove in three runs, as DuBois Central Catholic beat visiting Keystone, 14-0 in five innings.

Hanes was 4-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored, Frank was 2-for-3 with a triple while also getting hit by a pitch and scoring three times and Assalone was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two runs scored.

Also for the Lady Cardinals, Ashley Wruble went 2-for-2 while Maia Cogley was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

Wruble tossed a one-hitter to get the win. She struck out seven and walked one in five innings of work.

Karly Berkery had Keystone’s lone hit, a fourth-inning single.

CURWENSVILLE 9, SHEFFIELD 2; CURWENSVILLE 17, SHEFFIELD 0, 3 INNINGS

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Hannah Dixon had five hits in two games, as Curwensville swept past visiting Sheffield in a doubleheader.

The Lady Tide won Game One 9-2 and Game Two 17-0 in three innings.

In the first game, Dixon was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. She also stole three bases. Dixon followed that up by going 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and four runs scored in the second game. She added another stolen base in Game Two.

Camryn Richards also had a nice day. She was 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI in the first game and 1-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored in the second game.

Also in the first game for Curwensville, Bailey Blooms was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored with Kayley Harnett going 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases.

Maya Grubbs had a double and a stolen base for Sheffield.

Clerissia Cole got the win in Game one going seven innings and allowing two unearned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out one.

Rachel LeGars got the Game Two win going three innings allowing one hit while striking out five.
