William E. “Bill” McAfoos

William E McAfoosWilliam E. “Bill” McAfoos, 64, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017, surrounded by his family at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born September 17, 1952, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Lucille M. (Pollum) and Howard E. McAfoos.

On May 5, 1984, he married Deborah J. (Painter) McAfoos, who survives.

He was a graduate of the Punxsutawney Are High School, Class of 1971.

He worked as a machinist for Jefferson Machine for 35 years.

Bill was an avid Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins fan. He enjoyed playing softball, and traveling to visit his daughter and her husband in Mansfield, Louisiana.

He was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles and Rossiter Legion.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two daughters, Melanie Ashley and husband Kyle of Mansfield, Louisiana, and Tracey McAfoos and boyfriend Rich Ferrara of Punxsutawney; a brother Jim McAfoos of Punxsutawney; a nephew Doug of Punxsutawney; and three nieces Dee Dee, Brenda, and Tina of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alton and Robert McAfoos.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

Interment will be in Pearce Cemetery, Rossiter.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bill to Calvary United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, or The Family House of Shadyside, 5001 Baum Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
