William H. Powell

Scan0001William H. Powell, 56, of Knoxdale, died Wednesday, August 20, at his home. He was born on November 4, 1957 in Punxsutawney the son of Harold “Hud” and Janet E. (Burford) Powell. He married Paula L. (Hess) on October 23, 1998.

Bill was a truck driver and served in the the United States Army Reserve. He loved his family and his dogs. He was an avid sports fan especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed riding his side by side and hunting.

He is survived by his parents, Harold “Hud “ and Janet Powell of Ohl, his wife, Paula of Knoxdale, four step children, Amy, Rodney, Trista and Cash, fourteen grandchildren, four sisters; Denise Eble and husband John of Summerville, Shelly Hammond and husband Rocky of Fairmount City, Glenda Confer and husband Harry of Sigel and Jane Lucas and husband Bernie of Youngsville, a brother, John Powell and his wife Kim of Sykesville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Ann Powell.

Bill’s request was to be cremated. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 23, from 1 – 4 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 4:00 pm, Saturday, with Pastor Rocky Hammond officiating. Interment will be in the Ohl Cemetery, Jefferson County.
