William J. Crawford

601cfa7c-4d0a-40e6-9a50-802618561e85William J. Crawford, 86, 3716 Stevenson Hill Road, Falls Creek, died Sunday, October 26, 2014, at his home.

Born Jan. 17, 1928, in Reynoldsville, he was the son of the late Blanche Warnick Crawford and James L. Crawford.

He was married to Althea H. Dickey on July 16, 1945. She survives.

He was a 1945 graduate of Beechwoods High School. He retired after 40 years as a building contractor.

He was a partner in Raybuck and Crawford then Crawford Builders. He obtained the reputation as a finish carpenter.

He was a member of the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church in Falls Creek.

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army in Panama. He was a member of Garfield Lodge 559 F&AM, served as a Master in both 1972 and 1990, Coudersport Consistory, Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 965 for 50 years.

He was a member of the Jefferson County Planning Commission and served as a Washington Township Supervisor.

He was a founding member of the Hormtown Rifle and Pistol Club, life member of the National Rifle Association, was an avid hunter, fisherman and made his own gun stocks and tied his own fishing ties.

He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.

Survivors also include five daughters: Carol (Howard) Scull of Falls Creek, Donna (Charles) McIntyre Mount Dora, Fla., Janet (Thomas) Harris of Bellefonte, Pamela (David) Nelson of DuBois, Nancy (Scott) Daum of Tionesta; a sister, Edna Groves of Falls Creek; eight grandchildren: Jason, Zachery, April, Sean and Ashley Harris; James and Lauren Nelson, Joshua and Julia Daum; and a great-grandson, Quinn Harris.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Curry.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville.

Garfield Lodge 559 F&AM will conduct masonic services at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church with the Revs.

Burial will be in the Beechwoods Cemetery, Falls Creek.

The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct military honors Wednesday at the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church.
