William J. Williams

William J. Williams, 90, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Laurelbrook Landing, Brookville.

Mr. Williams was born on December 23, 1930, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late Alice (Salvaggio) and McVay Williams.

On October 20, 1956, he married Helen Jean Williams, who preceded him in death on February 6, 2017.

Mr. Williams was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having been awarded an Occupational Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. Bill was very patriotic his entire lifetime and loved sporting his military hats and decorating his home in military fashion. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, planting, antiques, and coin collecting.

In his earlier years of employment, Bill was a structural steelworker and a sheet metal worker, but in his later years, he held the position of Quartermaster at the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks in Punxsutawney.

Surviving relatives include two sister, Becky Kazman and husband John of Beaver and Debbie Williams of Midland and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, McVay Williams, Jr., a sister Antoinette “Babe” Vanhorn and a sister Rose Ann Sloniger.

Services will be held privately. Arrangements are under the direction of the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mr. Williams, to the Punxsutawney Memorial Library, 301 East Mahoning Street, Punxsutawney, PA, 15767.
