Willis Harwood Newell

Willis Harwood Newell, age 82, of Long Avenue, DuBois, PA, died unexpectedly, at home, Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

A son of the late John E. and Agnes (Berkey) Newell, he was born on August 4, 1938, in DuBois, PA.

Besides his parents, Harwood was predeceased by his wife, Catherine “Ilene” (Robinson) Newell; two sisters, Josephine Bojalad and Emily Igou; a brother, John Newell; and a daughter, Connie Lou in infancy.

Harwood is survived by three sons, Robert (Tammy) Newell of Penfield, Thomas (Melissa) Newell of Reynoldsville, and Gregory (Debbie) Newell of Reynoldsville; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Chrissy) Newell of North Carolina; and two sisters, Mary Maholtz of Penfield and Jessie Maholtz of Penfield.

Harwood lived all his life in Penfield, Hickory Kingdom, and DuBois. He was a member of the Hickory United Methodist Church and enjoyed helping out at the Parkside Community Center of DuBois. He enjoyed watching team sports and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of life will be held, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021, at the Hickory United Methodist Church with Pastor Harold “Butch” Brunner.

Interment will take place in the Conway Cemetery next to his wife.

The family suggests memorials to the Parkside Community Center or the Hickory United Methodist Church and will be accepting online condolences at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.

The Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield has been entrusted with final arrangements.
