Winslow Township Victim Gives $29,000 to IRS Scammer

Scam caller concept.WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) — DuBois-based State Police are investigating a scam that victimized a Winslow Township woman.

Police say sometime between February 27 and 28, an unknown person, who said his name was “Richard Harris” called the 57-year-old woman and told her she owed money to the IRS.

The person told the victim to buy Walmart gift cards and give him the card numbers to fulfill her debt.

The victim provided the man with $29,000.00 worth of gift cards before reporting the incident to police.

The investigation continues.
