CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Clarion County and the surrounding areas.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATEMENT (SUNDAY, JANUARY 27, 2013 10:15 PM)

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR FREEZING RAIN AND MIXED PRECIPITATION…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST MONDAY.

GARRETT-VENANGO-FOREST-CLARION-JEFFERSON PA- INCLUDING THE CITIES OF… OIL CITY…FRANKLIN…SUGARCREEK…TIONESTA…CLARION…PUNXSUTAWNEY…BROOKVILLE…REYNOLDSVILLE…BROCKWAY

…A WARM FRONT WILL BRING MIXED PRECIPITATION TO THE AREA TONIGHT AND MONDAY…

A VERY COLD GROUND AND SNOW PACK…WILL KEEP SURFACE TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW FREEZING INTO MONDAY MORNING. PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN TO OVERSPREAD THE AREA LATE THIS EVENING AND EARLY MONDAY MORNING.
THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE REGION WILL SEE A MIXTURE OF SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN AT THE ONSET…WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY CHANGE TO ALL FREEZING RAIN. THE NORTHERN HALF AND RIDGES…WILL SEE SNOW AT THE BEGINNING WHICH WILL CHANGE TO A MIX BEFORE BECOMING ALL FREEZING RAIN LATE TONIGHT AND MONDAY MORNING.

* ACCUMULATIONS…SNOW ACCUMULATION OF UP TO 1 INCH…ICE ACCUMULATION UP TO ONE-QUARTER OF AN INCH.
* TIMING…SNOW WILL BEGIN TO FALL TOWARD MIDNIGHT THEN MIX WITH SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN BEFORE CHANGING TO ALL FREEZING RAIN AROUND DAWN ON MONDAY.
* IMPACTS…ICY SURFACES INCLUDING ROADS AND WALKWAYS.
* TEMPERATURES…25 TO 30.
