Woman Injured After Vehicle Slams into Residence in Sykesville Borough

SYKESVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Police say a local woman was injured after her vehicle slammed into the side of a residence in Sykesville Borough on Saturday evening.

According to DuBois-based State Police, the accident happened around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, on Shaffer Street at its intersection with Doctor Fugate Drive, in Sykesville Borough, Jefferson County.

Police say 91-year-old Stella M. Yamrick, of Sykesville, was operating a 1991 Ford Tempo attempting to park on Shaffer Street when she was unable to put the vehicle in park, which caused a sudden forward movement. The vehicle then ran over a stop sign and struck the side of a nearby residence, causing property damage. It came to a final rest against the side of the residence.

Yamrick suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois by Sykesville Ambulance.

She was using a seat belt.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Jewell’s Towing.

Dusan Ambulance and Sykesville Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
