Woman Injured in Crash on Route 36

MAHAFFEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Police say a woman was injured in a crash that recently occurred on State Route 36 in Mahaffey Borough.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the accident occurred around 7:23 a.m. on February 24, on Market Street at its intersection with State Route 36/West Main Street, in Mahaffey Borough, Clearfield County.

Police say 48-year-old Eliz Nestlerode-Frailey, of Irvona, was operating a 2019 Ford Escape, traveling north and making a left turn onto State Route 36 from Market Street when her vehicle struck a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, operated by 40-year-old Calogero Gambino, of Punxsutawney, that was making a right turn onto Market Street.

Nestlerode-Frailey suffered injuries to her neck and leg and was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois by Mahaffey Community Ambulance Service.

Gambino was not injured.

Both drivers were using seat belts.

Nestlerode-Frailey’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Smitty’s Towing.

Gambino’s vehicle was driven from the scene.

Nestlerode-Frailey was cited for a traffic violation.

Mahaffey Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
