According to police, around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18, Nancy Frankel-Zacchero, of Pittsburgh, was operating a 2017 Nissan Rogue, traveling east on Interstate 80 in the left lane near mile marker 97 in Sandy Township.
Police say Frankel-Zacchero’s vehicle drifted off the left side of the road and collided with a stretch of guide rail before coming to a final rest in the median.
Frankel-Zacchero was wearing a seatbelt. She suffered injuries of an unknown severity and was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital by ambulance and then flown to Allegheny General Hospital by LifeFlight.
The vehicle’s passengers – 28-year-old Rachel F. Zacchero, of Pittsburgh, and a three-year-old child – were both wearing proper restraints and were not injured.
Sandy Township Volunteer Fire Department and DuBois EMS assisted at the scene.
Frankel-Zacchero was determined to be at fault and cited accordingly by the electronic submission of a traffic citation via District Court 46-3-01.
