Woman’s Identity Used to File Fraudulent Income Tax, Establish Credit Card

state_policeELDRED TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) –Marienville-based State Police report an incident of identity theft took place in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

Police report an unknown actor used the personal identifying information of a 50-year-old Sigel woman to file fraudulent federal income tax forms sometime between February 1 and July 31.

The unknown actor also used the information to establish a fraudulent American Express merchant account.

No other information was released.
