Bowdish Birthday Bash

February 25, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

They will be showcasing Bowdish’s newly refurbished miniature diorama, running the trains, and presenting the Grand Opening of 3 new exhibits.

There will be a three gallery Fighting Fire exhibit which showcases the history of Jefferson County’s fire departments and EMS services. The first gallery is an interactive fire safety exhibit for kids, including a selfie station, a dispatch center, a rescue tunnel, and a 911 dispatch center. The second gallery covers 1970 to the present, showcasing modern fire equipment and tools and EMS services over the years. The third gallery covers 1898 to 1969, complete with an original 1899 hose cart and other antique equipment and gear.

The 50th Anniversary exhibit holds interesting memorabilia and revisits some prior exhibits from 1967 to 1971 when there was no physical museum building, 1971-1999 when the Brady Craig house on Jefferson St. was our home, and the adventures of preserving and adapting our current Edelblute-Pearsall building on Historic Brookville’s Main St. from 2000 to the present.

The Joan Swigart exhibit in the Grand Hall features her photography, fine art, and selected writings, several of which she won awards for.

Other event activities include a coloring contest, which is available in the Jeffersonian Democrat, light refreshments, and a book signing with Carole Briggs for her newly published three volume book, People, Places, and Things in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.

Admission is free all day. For more information call (814) 849-0077
