The Young Meteorologist Club

Open to those in grades 8 and 9 who are interested in in the natural sciences including meteorology, climatology, environmental science, and oceanography. The club will meet four times per school year on Thursdays for 90 minutes after school at the and a fifth time to take a field trip.
The topic for the 2017-18 school year is A Study of Severe Weather:
Session 1, October 26: Tornadoes, Hurricanes, and Superstorms
Session 2, November 16: Lightning & Thunder
Session 3, February 22: Snowflakes & Blizzards
Session 4, March 22: Floods, Landslides & Dam Breaches
Session 5, April 19: Field Trip to the Johnstown Flood Museum
For the Year One Pilot Program of YMC, student tuition will be covered through a grant for the first 12 students to sign up. Additional students can participate, but must pay the tuition. The maximum is 20 students total. Tuition covers all materials plus field trip transportation and admission fees.
