Police say 80-year-old Phyllis E. Lopez, of Punxsutawney, was traveling north on SR 436 near Alliance Drive, and as she began to ascend a hill, she lost control of her 2003 Chevrolet Blazer.
The vehicle drove off the east side of the roadway and impacted a culvert and a road sign. It came to rest in a cornfield along the east side of SR 436 facing west, according to police.
Lopez was not injured in the collision.
A passenger in Lopez’s vehicle – 82-year-old Eugene White, of Punxsutawney – suffered minor injuries.
Jefferson County EMS transported him to Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
Both occupants were using seat belts.
Charges are pending, police say.
