The return of the Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous and Auction will be at the Cook Forest Sawmill Center for the Arts, during the last major festival of the 2015 season, held September 25th through September 27th. This will be the third annual Rendezvous hosted by the Sawmill. Sixteen chainsaw carvers will show off their techniques and sell their works at the auction. There is no charge to enter the carving or vendor areas. Carvers and vendors will work from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday the 25th, Saturday the 26th, and from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday the 27th. Auctions will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday and at 2:00 PM on Sunday.
Hillbilly Birthday Blast at Blackbird Distillery
When: Friday, September 25, 2015 – Sunday, September 27, 2015
Where:Blackbird Distillery, 93 Blackout Alley, Brookville, PA
Details:
September 26th marks 44 years since the television hit The Beverly Hillbillies first aired, and Blackbird Distillery will be observing the occasion. Dress up as your favorite Beverly Hillbillies character for the chance to win a prize. Free samples of Blackbird Distillery’s own meats, cheeses and canned goods will be available, along with samples of handmade moonshine. Class will consist of teaching/carving sessions covering the fundamentals of relief carving. Students will have a choice of designs. Each student will need to choose their project(s). Each student will be expected to furnish his/her own tools and equipment. The class will cover the following: layout, design, theory and perspective, sharpening, using knives and gouges, detailing, and finishing techniques.
